well, its official: i have been commissioned to illustrate a graphic novel in australia. this is my first real gig in the comic industry, and im riddled with exhilaration and anxiety. i can finally, after 10 years of studying, drawing, and waiting, call myself a professional artist. this means more to me than anything i have ever know.
first and foremost, i have to thank my wife: she has stuck by me in my darkest days and beat my ass until i painted my fingers to the marrow. without her strength and encouragement, i could not have done this. without her, i couldnt do anything.
next, i have to give props to DeviantArt and ImagineFX. without this community, i would have lost out on so many lessons and contacts. this place seeded my passion for the work, and its blossomed into true potential, more than i could have dreamed. i met my first clients right here on this site, and with its tools at my disposal, have been able to not only build a powerful profile, but witness my progression from hack to pro. i will continue to use this profile until the robots overlords enslave us all, and even then ill post my first piece of binary art here.
of course, i wont forget my friends and fans. everyone who pick one of my pieces as a favorite, everyone who watches, and everyone who just gave a damn, thank you from the bottom of my heart. its been your accolades and kudos that showed me i can actually entertain people and create things that others can steal some joy from. my friends at
unseelie-court.deviantart.com/ have been a great influence, as have many others. i love you all and i wont let you down.
its been a long, difficult road (cliche) and with a great joyous scream i can FINALLY quit my worthless, degrading, dead end retail job and truly pursue my passion. everyone here at DeviantArt, thanks again.
now lets see what i can REALLY do...
